Let me preface this by saying I moved to Maine a year ago from the south and my husband and I are big foodies. We have tried nearly every recommended hot spot or mom and pop restaurants all over Maine and have concluded that we just don’t particularly care for Maine style cuisine besides the seafood- different strokes for different folks. With all due respect, it reminds us of bland-white hued cafeteria food but with astronomical prices. I’ve been seeing Meadows Takeout pop up on Facebook since we moved here and after wasting money on other take-out places, my husband was hesitant to try YET ANOTHER but we took the plunge first with crab rolls and a jalapeño popper pizza… Phenomenal! Just exquisite! The woman taking my order on the phone was just the absolute sweetest, my husband picked up the food and said the same of the staff, and the food tastes like they REALLY put their heart in it- a hard find from a take out place right before closing. We’ve ordered a few times since then and everything was amazing from the clam strips to the homemade French fries. Last night my kids had a sleepover so I had a huge order. About 7 pizzas between pickle, Margherita, jalapeño popper, cheese, and pepperoni and 3 orders of homemade chicken strips. Everything was amazing, fresh, and ready in less than an hour. The pickle pizza was the absolute star of the show though. I love pickles but was hesitant about how good a pickle pizza would actually be but omg it was amazing! Anyway, I’m just glad we found this place because it’s the real deal! Also you absolutely MUST get the fries. I don’t even particularly like fries but these are incredible!
We stumbled upon this place on a drive we were taking north. It did not disappoint us. We arrived and sat out on the front porch to eat. You order your food at a window and then find your seat. They do have seating inside and a bar area also. The place was clean and pretty cool. We were all very happy with our meals. They were delicious! So much so that my husband and son-n-law decided to split a second sandwich just to try it because they enjoyed everything else. The staff was awesome and the lady at the window was very pleasant.
First time eating there, won’t be the last! Pizza was amazing and the hand cut fries were awesome. Clean inside and super friendly staff!
I've been driving by this place for over a decade on the way to the Family Vacation Home. Saw a YouTube video about 5 years ago boasting about the deep fried key lime pie. I've been trying to stop here ever since but could never make the timing work on my commute past the place. Finally made it work today when out for a hike in the area and I have only 7 words for those driving by. GET THE DEEP FRIED KEY LIME PIE!
Extremely fresh. The French fries were light and crispy! We had the coconut shrimp and a lobster roll. The coconut shrimp comes with the option for a blueberry pepper and a pineapple sauce. Amazing.
Portuguese and Farm Fresh pizzas did not disappoint and hit the spot after a long hike. We will be back for another blueberry fried pie as well.
The fried clams were good, but not something that I wanted to go back to, there are many other spots around that make this so amazingly well. However, their fried blueberry pie is out of the world and would drive here to get it every time I'm around the area.
If only this place was in CT! Stopped here for a bite on a trip through Maine and so glad we did. The crab salad roll and the fried blueberry pie were amazing. Hard to find real quality food like this especially at a convenient drive in. We also got two pup cups for the dogs - they were DEVOURED. Although the service was a bit slow when we went and it took myself and the people behind me 10 minutes to even get acknowledged at the window while being seen, the food, kindness of the owner (I think?) that gave us two pup cups and seeing the dogs reactions outweighed it.
